Acupuncture

What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an alternative therapy originating in China.  Acupuncture is often used to treat a wide range of health conditions including back and joint pain, nausea, migraines and fatigue.

What is the procedure?
Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles into ‘acupuncture points’ under the skin.  You will be sat or lay down whilst the needles are inserted. The needles will be left in position for up to 30 minutes. The practitioner will usually recommend between 6-12 sessions of acupuncture.

Practitioners must register with their local authority. Poor hygienic practices could put you at risk. Risks specific risks to acupuncture can include:

  • Bruising, bleeding and dizziness
  • Transmission of blood borne disease
  • Infection
  • Nerve damage

If you have suffered with any of the problems listed above, you may have a claim for compensation.
