Brow Lift

What is a brow lift?
A brow lift is also known as a forehead lift or browplasty.  The brow lift remains a very popular cosmetic surgery procedure to undergo.  The process is used to help reverse the aging process.  Some people have sagging skin in the forehead area whereas some may have very deep lines and wrinkles.

What is the procedure involved in having a brow lift?
The procedure often involves endoscopic surgery which involves the use of pencil like arms which are inserted under the skin along with the use of tiny lighted cameras which transmit images from underneath the patient’s skin onto television screens.  Other arms of the endoscope may carry surgical tools to cut or grasp.

Fixation devices called Endotines are also used in brow lifts.  These are fixed devices which are inserted under the skin and essentially act like a hanger.  The Endotine is fixed in place by inserting a flange post into a hole in the skull.

What are the risks of having a brow lift?
Complications that can affect anyone who has surgery include an adverse reaction to the anaesthetic, excessive bleeding and risk of infection.  There are also a number of complications that are specifically associated with any brow lift procedure.  These are all recognised risks, but sometimes poor management of these complications can give grounds for a claim for compensation.

Specific risks of having a brow lift include:

  • Facial or brow asymmetry
  • Hair loss at the scar site and hair loss around the eyebrows and eyelashes
  • Eyelid disorders
  • Skin discolouration

If you have had a brow lift and you have suffered from physical or emotional problems as a result of having a brow lift, perhaps as a result of an unexpected outcome, then you may be entitled to make a claim for compensation.  If your surgeon has not taken sufficient care and skill during the surgery or has not provided you with proper advice in your consultation before the surgery has taken place, you may also be entitled to make a claim for compensation. You could be entitled to claim for the costs of any further corrective surgery that is required.
